Three Steps to an Effective Ministry
It takes a careful and thoughtful process to start an effective lay team
ministry to address the whole congregation. Three steps bring this ministry to
life in a congregation:
-
Build Congregational Support – Order a Call to Action Kit
(CTA) to build support for this ministry early. Identify clergy and
congregational leaders to attend Leadership Training. Use the Healing Places
book, Faith Partners Journals, video and step-by-step guide to introduce this
ministry to clergy and potential team members. Readiness and support are
critical. Cost $61; includes shipping and handling (S&H).
-
Equip the Leadership – Attend Leadership Training, a six-hour
workshop for clergy, staff and team facilitators. Topics include the role of
the congregation; the scope of the ministry; important tips for clergy and team
facilitators; potential barriers to the ministry; and steps, tools, and
strategies to assure success, including ministry guides and on-going
consultation. $100.00 per congregation for 2-4 participants, $85.00 with
purchase of the Call to Action Kit.
-
Develop the Ministry – Complete the two-day Team Training for
3-10 team members, usually scheduled 2-4 months after leadership training,
giving time to assess the needs of the congregation, identify opportunities for
education and recruit team members. Team Training addresses specific prevention
and recovery strategies; team functioning; connection to community resources
and an initial plan of action. A training fee of $400.00 includes Team
Training, ministry guides, a resource library, on-going consultation, and
opportunities for networking.
